Avlon House B&B now has an A rating BER cert from SEAI.

While endeavoring to offer the highest levels of service and comfort to our guests we also decided to embrace a cleaner environment.

Of course, we are doing the simple things like waste recycling and suggesting we reduce carbon emissions by turning off lights, reusing towels or reducing shower length.

On reflection we decided this was not enough and sought improvements we could make without impacting quality of guest stays, that in mind we again began with simple steps like switching all light bulbs to LED and TV’s to energy efficient Smart units, Clock radios were changed to offer device charging ports and again we sat back and said that’s not enough.

So next we switched our older AVC water & heating system for a Joule High efficiency twin coil hot water system feed by 2 High efficiency gas boilers and a set of Thermo Dynamic panels all controlled by smart EPH controls.

Not happy with the 20% CO2 reductions we were achieving we decided to install 12KW solar system to reduce our reliance on the Electricity grid and deliver 10,000KW of solar power to our home annually delivering an additional 10,000kg Co2 saving annually.

Our final investment for guest convenience going forward was in a 21KW Zappi Electric Vehicle charger, this will hopefully offer guests a convenient charging option subject to availability currently the cost will be €0.40 per KW payable on departure, we know range anxiety is growing among EV drivers but we at Avlon House B&B now have you covered ensuring you can continue your journey without fear for a fair charging Tarif.

Of course, we will continue to quietly look at ways to reduce our carbon foot print while maintaining or improving your comfort and enjoyment while using our product.
