From Friday 12th – Sunday 14th November, the hills around County Carlow will be alive with the sound of walkers, ramblers and hikers catering for all abilities and experience.
Funded by the Carlow County Council under the Festivals and Events Scheme, the Carlow Winter Walking Festival offers a great introduction for both locals and visitors to Carlow to experience and enjoy the challenges of Carlow’s Mountain trek, or the seek out the serenity and calm that the woodlands of Carlow are willing to share.
Throughout the weekend there are several walks to choose from, falling under the categories of “B” walks for experienced hillwalkers and “C” walks for leisure/regular walkers. All organised walks required tickets for each walk that cost as little as €10.00 per person.
On Friday 12th November, the festival opens with a Night Hike against the stunning backdrop of the Blackstairs Mountains as night falls. The walk will be led by experienced guides from the local walking clubs and is one not to be missed for experienced walkers. Can you imagine how special this walk will be?
