So Many Reasons to Celebrate Spring in Carlow this month

Snowdrop Month

Spring, without doubt one of the most exciting, hopeful and beautiful times of the year. No county in Ireland does Spring better than Carlow. We are known across the country for displaying our blooming spring gardens and there is nowhere better to visit when it comes to indulging your interest in gardening and nature from February to April.

Carlow tourism have hit the ground running this year organising any number of superb events in our beloved visitor attractions including Ballykealy House, Arboretum Home and Gardens, Huntington Gardens and Rathwood.

Snowdrop Weekends at Huntington Castle

‘Snowdrops and Daffodils’ and so much more are in full bloom this month at the stunningly elegant and beautiful grounds and gardens of Huntington Castle. Each weekend in February from 11am to 4pm, visitors can wander through the gardens and marvel at the collections of snowdrops, crocuses and stroll through the Yew Tree Walk. To get the full experience of your visit, we would recommend purchasing tickets here and enjoy a tour of the castle rooms as well. A great place for the family to visit. Be sure to stop by the tea rooms and playground too.

Home & Garden Heaven

For the entire month of February, The Arboretum Home and Garden Heaven located at Leighlinbridge, Co. Carlow dedicates its gardens to showcasing a vast display of snowdrops made up of several varieties. Every year Rachel Doyle creates a truly inspirational garden to bring visitors something truly special. All your senses will come alive as you see, smell and touch something truly special, for one month only. Admission is free.

Snowdrop Month at Altamont Gardens

A collaboration between the Office of Public Works and former owner of the Altamont Gardens has resulted in this 40 acre estate bringing something exciting for the general public to enjoy each spring. The gardens open daily from 09.00am to 4.00pm with guided tours running at 2.00pm, Monday to Friday. The collection of Snowdrops is the largest in Ireland with over 150 varieties to view.

To make the most of your stay in Carlow, we do recommend allowing enough time in each visitor attraction. Our Spring overnight Bed and Breakfast rates are very affordable and remember to book direct for best value.

A beautiful quote to leave you with as we enter this season or Spring.
